Venturopoly Farms

Small grazing farms and homesteads worth moving for

Every week, a short list of the best ones I find: for sale, for lease, and caretaker deals. It starts in the US, and Latin America comes next.

What we check on every farm

Most good-looking farms fail on something simple, usually the house. So every one gets read from the desk before it makes the list, the way you'd read a survey sheet.

Water
A year-round source, and the right to use it.
Grass
Enough to carry animals. We count animal units, not acres.
Power
On the grid or off it, and what it takes to keep the lights on.
The house
Its level, from raw land to a house you can move into.
Hazards
Flood, fire, and anything else that should slow you down.
Who can hold it
A clean title, or a written lease long enough to build on.

How a listing reads

Every farm opens with a photo and one plain line, then the facts on its water, grass, power, house, and hazards, why it made the list, what to check before you fall in love, and a link to the source.

Who's behind it

I'm Josh Galt III. After nearly 2 decades living abroad, I am now moving my family back to a farm in Oregon, where I have my roots. To find it, I went through about 1,100 farm listings across 35 US states, and most of the good ones fail on something simple, usually the house. V-Farms is that search, written up for you.

V-Farms takes no money from sellers, developers, or brokers, and no commissions. Readers pay for the list, and that's all.
